Google Topeka For April Fool’s Day

Today, Google announced they would be changing their name to Topeka – yes, as in the city in Kansas. Why so drastic, when they could have gone with something like … “Schmoogle”?

The mayor of Topeka, Kansas, unofficially renamed the city Google for the month of March. This was to get attention from Google Topeka executives looking for a U.S. city in which to test a fiber-optic broadband network.

Google Topeka(!), the website, says they are showing some love for the name change, and that the more they surfed the city of Topeka Google’s site, the more they could relate. Aw…
